Today, I’ll be sharing my review of the Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair.

Devoko is a company that makes gaming chairs, desks, office chairs, and other furniture.

They strive to provide a balance between affordability and quality, and their ergonomic gaming chair selections definitely tick these boxes, providing you just that.

As someone who suffers from back and neck pain, I was curious to find out if this chair really did offer ergonomic features like Devoko says it does. Is the Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair really all it stacks up to be? Read on to find out!

Arrival and unpackaging

The chair was ordered through Amazon and I received it within a timely fashion. The delivery service was also great and I was able to track where my package was and could see the exact window of time when it would be delivered. When I received the Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair, it was dropped off at my doorstep in a rather large box that weighed around 40 lbs. The weight of it wasn’t a problem when carrying the box over my front door stoop, it was the size and bulkiness of the box. The cardboard box had a few dents in it, but that was likely due to being bumped around during shipping. I was very pleased with the delivery service overall.

I was very excited to unpackage this chair. Upon opening the box, there were open parts of the chair in the box, with some smaller parts in a smaller box, others in what appeared to be a grocery bag, and a plastic package of various nuts and bolts. Styrofoam was put around the parts to prevent the chair’s leather material from being torn. The packaging didn’t seem to be especially high quality, but nothing was damaged when I opened up the box and inspected the individual parts of the chair. As far as documentation goes, there was a small booklet with instructions in various languages on how to assemble the chair.

Assembly of the Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair

This chair wasn’t difficult to put together at all. Assembling the chair took around an hour.

It wasn’t a difficult process, and the assembly instructions weren’t that tricky to follow. All the tools needed to assemble the chair came with it in the box: several nuts and bolts and an Allen wrench. I had my spouse assist me so it would go a little faster.

First, we assembled the wheels and the gas cylinder. After that, we moved onto the seat of the chair, which fit perfectly with the base of it. We screwed on the armrests to the base as well, and they fit naturally without cutting away at the wood of the seat base. We then put the seat on the base and installed the seat back and the reclining lever.

It was a bit difficult to get the seat back to fit between the reclining mechanisms and it took a bit of wiggling around to get it in place. After that, we installed the covers of the reclining mechanisms, then finally strapped on the headrest and lumbar pillow.

We didn’t really struggle to put the chair together at any point and overall it was a pleasingly simple process. The instructions were clear and we didn’t need to refer back to them much.

Features of this chair

The Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair is a high-back gaming/office chair with a bucket style seat, similar to those in high end sports cars and racing cars. It features:

Overall, I found that these features of the Devoko chair are quite intuitive. The recline lever isn’t stiff to pull, but it’s not the absolute smoothest either, but the chair back itself reclines without a problem. The chair’s wheels roll smoothly and remain quiet even after picking up dirt and pet hair from the floor.

Adjusting the lumbar support and headrest is simply just a matter of tightening, loosening, or repositioning the straps on them and their fit around the chair to get them to where you need them to be.

The only missing features here that I’d like to see are adjustable armrests and an adjustable footrest. Adjustable armrests would add a lot more value and meet the needs of people who are taller in height. The armrests are pretty low and better for people who are shorter. An adjustable footrest would be a nice feature for added comfort.

Of course, the armrests not being adjustable is arguably the biggest downfall of the design and features, but this will mainly be a problem for taller users.

Build Quality

This chair would be considered to have a mid-range build quality. Even though the chair doesn’t weigh very much, it is sturdy and looks as such, and it holds up to 330 lbs without feeling wobbly when I sit in it. I haven’t heard any noises that I shouldn’t be hearing the chair making when I sit in it; it’s a very stable chair.

The material: Like with most gaming chairs at this price point, fake leather (PU) is used for the material. The sleek red and black design make it very visually appealing, and the black and red combination is very popular among gaming setups. As for the stitching, it’s perfectly done. I don’t see any spots where there are errors in the stitching, and I haven’t noticed any rips in the material or near the stitching. My cat, who is not declawed, has jumped up into the chair and the material has not ripped or been punctured, so it seems to be pretty sleek and durable. There is a nice chevron type pattern stitched into the seat and back, which gives the chair more of a racing style.

The cushions: the lumbar pillow and headrest pillow look very sleek, and they’re not overly bulky despite being well padded. They’re made of some type of foam padding that does flatten down over time after leaning up against the pillows for a while, but it’s easy to make the padding fluff up again. All the leather material on the chair zips on and off like a cover, so you can remove the padding to fluff it up or to clean off the leather if it gets dirty.

The base: the 5-wheel base of the chair is made of hard plastic. I don’t see any cracks in the base, so the chair can stand up to a good amount of weight and use and is still remaining durable. There are no broken pieces that I’ve discovered. None of the pieces of the chair look particularly fragile, but you can tell that the quality of the plastic could be a bit higher. The wheels are also plastic but they are very quiet on hard floors.

The armrests: the armrests are made of durable plastic and have a slightly textured surface. They feel good to touch, but they are a bit low. This wasn’t a problem for me, but others may find it to be an issue for them.

Review of the Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair’s comfort and ergonomics

The Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair is very comfortable to sit in. It has a great amount of cushioning and relieves pressure from all the right points. My overall impression of it is that it’s comfortable enough for a variety of uses and is easy to spend a long time sitting in without your joints getting stiff.

The chair is described as being ergonomic, and this holds true with the design. For your back, the chair definitely has ergonomic qualities. While the lumbar support pillow is optional, it increases the comfort and ergonomic value of the chair to use it. The padding of the pillow is very comfortable yet firm, although it does flatten down after extended use. The lumbar pillow here is easily adjustable but I did not need to do much adjusting with it out of the box to get it to fit well against my back. You will have no trouble getting it positioned perfectly thanks to the straps featured to adjust its positioning.

Other than that, the back provides ample support to the neck and spine as well. The headrest fits against the neck snugly and does not feel too firm or too squishy. The top part of the backrest isn’t that well-padded, so the headrest is something that you’ll likely want to keep on the chair.

As for the seat itself, it feels firm and soft at the same time, and you don’t sink down into it. I am super comfortable in the Devoko and I don’t feel any joint pain that I normally feel when sitting in other chairs with different designs. With the Devoko, I’m able to sit for hours without feeling sore or numb, and my muscles feel more relaxed after sitting in this chair opposed to other chairs. My spouse who suffers from chronic joint pain also sits in the Devoko from time to time and has noticed that their lower back, shoulders, and hips feel a lot better when they’re sitting in it.

There is a good amount of padding on the chair’s seat. It’s not so much that you feel uncomfortable or unsupported, but it’s not too little that it leaves you hurting. I’m able to sit for hours without my butt or legs going numb or hurting. The padding on the back feels just as nice, and the cushiness of it supports my back nicely, cradling me without making me sink down into an uncomfortable position. The seat and seat back padding doesn’t seem to flatten down over time like the lumbar pillow and headrest pillow does, so I haven’t had to worry about having to deal with less back support or cushioning over time.

The armrests are made of plastic so they feel a little cheaper, but they’re not uncomfortable. They would be much more comfortable if they were padded, but it’s not the worst thing in the world.

Verdict

Summing everything up, this gaming chair is quite a bargain for how comfortable it is. The chair feels very durable and solid as well. The racing style of the chair adds to the comfort as it cradles the body, and it’s very easy for me to spend several hours in it without needing to get up to stretch. The wheels are quiet when they roll, so it’s perfect for using on hard floors without making a lot of noise when I’m up late at night working or gaming.

The price of the chair is also very nice, especially with the ergonomics and comfort that you get for around $89 on Amazon.

The Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair is very affordable for how flexible it is and it provides a good amount of value for the convenient features that it has.

The only thing I don’t like about this chair is that the armrests aren’t adjustable. I’ve also found that they loosen up after a while and need to be tightened under the base of the chair every few days to keep them from wobbling.

This gets annoying after a while, but it’s not the absolute worst thing in the world to have to deal with.

I would absolutely recommend the Devoko Ergonomic Gaming Chair because it’s a great chair that is comfortable, affordable, easy to assemble, and very affordable. It’s perfect for long gaming sessions or working at a computer or desk, and its flexibility also makes it a comfortable option for lounging in while watching movies. This chair will appeal to many people of all ages.
