AKRacing started its chair venture in 2001, starting in the automotive sports space. The Taiwanese company quickly adapted for gaming and office furniture and has not looked back since. Its team has always been fully responsible for every aspect of chair design, manufacture, testing, and quality control to ensure every product goes out looking the best it can be.
Most of its chairs are made with high-quality materials that justify its price point in the mid to upper end of the gaming spectrum. AKRacing currently showcases four different series of chairs.
Chair Series Default Model | Price |
Core Series EX | $399 |
Master Series Max | $569 |
Office Series Opal | $429 |
Limited Series California | $469 |
AKRacing Core Series
AKRacing’s flagship series comes in three different styles and a variety of cool colors to pick from.
- AKRacing Core Series EX
- AKRacing Core Series EX-Wide
- AKRacing Core Series LX Plus
Let’s see how each of these chairs fare.
AKRacing Core Series EX

AKRacing Core Series EX: Specs and Features |
Weight: 59 pounds (26.8 kilograms) |
Material: 100% Polyester |
Seat Width: 15.5 inches (39.4 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’3″- 6’3″ (160 – 190 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 3.5 inches (8.9 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Metal Base |
3D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $399 |
The AKRacing Core Series EX is well-suited for most gamers, with a body designed for heights from 5’3” to 6’3”. Although the company suggests 250 pounds is at the upper end of the chair’s comfort range, it’s actually rated all the way to 330. The seat may be a bit narrow for some at 15.5 inches but tapers on the sides to allow more wiggle room.
Both the frame and wheel base are metal to support the larger weight limit and help stabilize the chair. As far as gaming chairs go, the MSRP is situated right in the middle at $399.
Should you desire, you can recline the Core Series EX all the way to horizontal with the ground. The polyester cover and padded foam internals provide the comfort you’d need to take a nap. You also have access to cushions for both the head and lower back to rest on.
The EX is available in a handful of colorful choices to reflect the gaming style in your space.
For $80 more, you can upgrade your EX to an SX model that comes with a PU faux leather fabric instead of the polyester.
AKRacing Core Series EX-Wide

AKRacing Core Series EX-Wide: Specs and Features |
Weight: 59 pounds (26.8 kilograms) |
Material: 100% Polyester |
Seat Width: 17.3 inches (44 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’4″- 6’4″ (162 – 192 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 3.5 inches (8.9 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Metal Base |
3D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $429 |
Nearly all the specifications of the EX-Wide match the base model. The obvious exception is the seat width, which jumps up to 17.3 inches for those needing extra space. The increase in size and subsequent materials brings about a slight price increase, up to $429 from the EX’s $399.
AKRacing Core Series LX Plus

AKRacing Core Series LX Plus: Specs and Features |
Weight: 60 pounds (27.2 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU Faux Leather |
Seat Width: 15 inches (38 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’5″- 6’5″ (165 – 195 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Metal Base |
3D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $499 |
AKRacing’s Core Series LX Plus is a unique design with some recurring features to the EX. Notable differences are a slightly thinner seat width and a boost to the recommended user height. You’ll also only be able to move the seat up or down a total of three inches.
The more visible change is to the fabric, where the LX plus is sheathed in PU faux leather instead of polyester. All these changes drive up the price to an MSRP of $499.
AKRacing Masters Series
The Masters Series is a step up from the Core set in AKRacing’s arsenal of gaming chairs. Unlike lower-end models, these three chairs all feature a Premium PU faux leather and an aluminum base:
- AKRacing Masters Series Max
- AKRacing Masters Series Premium
- AKRacing Masters Series Pro
Let’s dive into the specs of each.
AKRacing Masters Series Max

AKRacing Masters Series Max: Specs and Features |
Weight: 68 pounds (30.8 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU Faux Leather |
Seat Width: 23.25 inches (59 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’6″- 6’6″ (167 – 197 cm) |
Max Weight: 400 pounds (181 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Aluminum Base |
4D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $569 |
The Masters Series Max is the lowest-end chair in the series, but one interesting feature the others don’t. It is the only chair to allow up to 400 pounds of weight on its metal frame, aluminum base, and 2.5-inch casters. You also have over 23 inches of wiggle room on the seat to work with.
PU leather gives a more luxurious look and feel than polyester, and 4D armrests are also a step up from the Core series. Made for big and tall users, the Master Series Max is best suited for gamers in the 5’6” to 6’6” range.
If resting is in your future, the Max still reclines to the horizontal position so you can make good use of the headrest and lumbar support pillows. The design really stands out no matter which of the eight color choices you end up going with.
A retail price of $569 seems justified by the additions to the chair from what the Core EX offers. There aren’t many gaming chairs that can support a capacity of 400 pounds, so this model really stands out.
AKRacing Masters Series Premium

AKRacing Masters Series Premium: Specs and Features |
Weight: 60 pounds (30.8 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU Faux Leather |
Seat Width: 15.25 inches (40 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’5″- 6’5″ (165 – 195 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 2.75 inches (7 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Aluminum Base |
4D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $549 |
AKRacing’s Premium model is quite a bit smaller than the Max, with a top weight limit of 330 pounds and a 15.25 inch seat width. It has fewer color choices, but each gives a more professional, sleek look than the bright colors of the Max.
The chair’s adjustable height differs by a quarter inch from the Max, which isn’t going to make much of a difference overall. As long as the weight limit or seat width isn’t a concern, picking between these two Master Series chairs likely comes down to preference.
AKRacing Masters Series Pro

AKRacing Masters Series Pro: Specs and Features |
Weight: 68 pounds (30.8 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU Faux Leather |
Seat Width: 17 inches (43 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’7″- 6’7″ (170 – 200 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 2.5 inches (6.35 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Aluminum Base |
4D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $679 |
The Pro gaming chair is AKRacing’s top of the line model. You can pick up the PU leather version for $679, or pay $869 for some authentic Brazilian leather. There are a few color choices for the faux leather, but the real stuff only comes in black.
Most features are similar to the Premium in shape, size, and load capacity. The only significant change (and it’s minor) is the seat width, which covers 17 inches from side to side. I’m not sure I could justify paying that much for genuine leather, but I have yet to try this model out.
AKRacing Office Series
Although touted as an office series, these gaming chairs are just as suitable for hours of gaming wherever the battle is taking place. This line features solely all-black designs, perhaps to stand out less in an office setting. AKRacing has three models that fall into this category, named as follows:
- AKRacing Office Series Opal
- AKRacing Office Series Obsidian
- AKRacing Office Series Onyx
Let’s peruse what makes each chair stand out.
AKRacing Office Series Opal

AKRacing Office Series Opal: Specs and Features |
Weight: 59 pounds (26.8 kilograms) |
Material: 100% Polyester |
Seat Width: 22.8 inches (57.8 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’4″- 6’4″ (162.5 – 192.5 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 2.75 inches (7 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Metal Base |
3D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $429 |
The Opal is the entry-level chair for this series, packing several similarities to the Core EX model above. Seat and backrest material are 100% polyester, and the wheel base returns to less durable metal. The armrests are 3D instead of the 4D seen on the Master series.
Fortunately, we do have a wide, 22.8 inch seat and the 330 pound weight limit that’s still high for most chairs. Headrest and lumbar support pillows come to the rescue when you’ve been sitting for hours on end.
Being wider than the Core EX, the Opal will set you back $429 to the Core’s $399.
AKRacing Office Series Obsidian

AKRacing Office Series Obsidian: Specs and Features |
Weight: 60 pounds (27.2 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU faux leather |
Seat Width: 22 inches (55.8 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’5″- 6’5″ (165 – 195 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 2.75 inches (7 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Aluminum Base |
4D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $529 |
The Obsidian is an ever-so-slightly narrower chair than the Opal but has some nice upgrades with PU leather, 4D armrests, and an aluminum base for $529. It’s still only available in black but does have a very professional look streaming or actually working in an office.
Should you want to upgrade a bit more, a Softouch Suede version is available for $50 more. This model out some color dynamics while making things more comfortable than ever.
AKRacing Office Series Onyx

AKRacing Office Series Onyx: Specs and Features |
Weight: 68 pounds (30.8 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU faux leather |
Seat Width: 23.5 inches (59.7 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’7″- 6’7″ (170 – 200 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Aluminum Base |
4D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $699 |
The Onyx offers the most sophisticated look of the Office series, produced with a wide body, PU leather, and a sturdy aluminum base. To maximize comfort and appeal, you can upgrade the Onyx to genuine leather for an MSRP of $869.
AKRacing Limited Series
AKRacing’s Limited Series contains two models inspired by speed and sunny California:
- AKRacing California
- AKRacing Nitro
Let’s see what these unique chairs have to offer.
AKRacing California

AKRacing California: Specs and Features |
Weight: 59 pounds (26.8 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU faux leather |
Seat Width: 15 inches (39 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 4’9″- 5’6″ (145 – 167.5 cm) |
Max Weight: 330 pounds (150 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 4.5 inches (11.4 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Nylon Composite Base |
3D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $469 |
Inspired by sunshine and warm weather, the AKRacing California is made for smaller gamers and features three color schemes representing locations around the state.
The seat width is a narrow 15 inches, which shouldn’t be a bother for petite players looking for comfort. With the seat and backrest size, the chair is best for those between 4’9” and 5’6”. It does have a maximum load capacity of 330 pounds, but I can’t imagine many big users would find it comfortable.
The wheel base is a lower quality nylon than the metal ones we’ve seen so far. This is an interesting switch considering the price point is still $469. It does feature PU faux leather, but I’d expect a little more at that cost.
AKRacing Nitro
AKRacing Nitro: Specs and Features |
Weight: 52 pounds (23.6 kilograms) |
Material: Premium PU faux leather |
Seat Width: 21 inches (53 centimeters) |
Recommended User Height: 5’3″- 6’3″ (160 – 190.5 cm) |
Max Weight: 250 pounds (113.4 kilograms) |
Recline: 90° to 180° |
Adjustable Height: 4.5 inches (11.4 centimeters) |
5 Wheel Metal Base |
3D Armrests |
Back Support and Head Cushion |
MSRP: $479 |
The Nitro has a similar feel to the Office series, with a sleek all-black look and faux leather. The base is back to metal, but its design only allows up to 250 pounds at a time. It is the most adjustable of all the chairs AKRacing makes, with a height differential of 4.5 inches from top to bottom.
Individuals from 5’3” to 6’3” will likely have the most success with the Nitro’s back height and seat width. An MSRP of $479 puts it firmly in the middle of the gaming chair spectrum, but I’m struggling to find anything that makes it truly special.
Final Thoughts
AKRacing makes an impressive line of gaming chairs, but there isn’t a ton of versatility across its many models. While they offer one chair for individuals nearing 400 pounds and another for those on the petite side, most of the others fall firmly in the middle.
Your toughest decision points boil down to aesthetics and the material you want your body resting up against for hours on end. If you’re incredibly bold, you can pick up one of the two models that makes use of genuine Brazilian leather.
The California is a nice chair for petite gamers but seems too overpriced at $469. If I ever get the chance to try out an AKRacing chair (and had to factor in cost), I would go for the Master Series Premium for the leather feel, 4D armrests, and aluminum base.
