That being said, RGB lighting can create a wow factor with friends or with the online gaming community. If you are a streamer, an RGB chair can make you stand out from the crowd. In terms of gaming, it is possible to use the lighting to accentuate the mood of the game you’re playing. Fiery dungeon? Add some red lighting? Swimming through the deep blue sea? You know what to do.

The Vertagear PL4500 is a chair that’s designed with durability in mind. The gaming chair itself is quite heavy at just shy of 60 pounds when fully assembled, but this is due to the solid materials used in its construction. It’s hard to complain about an industrial quality steel frame, and there’s even a metal base frame that can support up to 400 pounds.
This strength is also a bit of a weakness when it comes to the padding material. The chair’s back support is comfortable, but some users feel the seat cushioning is too rigid for rear-ends after a day of sitting. As impressive as any gaming chair can be, falling short on seat comfort would be a big miss.
The Vertagear PL4500 has plenty of adjustability options that at least try to make up for a rigid seat. 2.5 inches of seat height adjustment and 60 degrees of movement on the incline should be enough to help you find that sweet spot for working and gaming. 3D armrests provide everything short of side-to-side motion so you can rest your arms comfortably.
This gaming chair is available with an RGB LED kit to take gaming to the next level. The kit allows you to attach customized LED lights to the front and the back of the chair. The LED lights are able to interact wirelessly with your PC and can be used to reflect a moon on a live stream or create a more profound gaming experience. If price is no concern, the Vertagear PL4500 is a solid chair to recommend (see my review) for all its features. Since price is a factor for most of us, this gaming chair sits right around the $450 mark when not on sale. This is well outside the range of a budget chair. The LED kit adds another $300 to this price tag if you’re leaning towards adding that feature as well.

The largest model in Vertagear’s S-Line series, the SL5000, is a bit more streamlined than its P-Line series cousin above. The Vertagear SL5000 runs on the heavier side at just over 57 pounds, but once you have the box where you want it to go, assembly is a snap. The heaviness is attributed to a durable design, seen in the steel frame, aluminum alloy base, and faux leather. The chair looks great and feels solid, with a maximum weight rating of 330 pounds.
Speaking of looks, the Vertagear SL5000 is has a nice design that either comes in solid black or can be purchased with an accent color. It’s also possible to pick up an RGB lighting kit to really make this chair pop. This RGB LED kit is designed specifically for this chair and comes with all the equipment you need to mount the lights.
Once installed, the LED lighting adds a colorful element to your live steam or can be used to further immerse yourself in a game by adding in the LED colors of your choice. The RGB lights run off of a battery pack and last about 13 hours before needing a charge. It takes 4.5 hours to bring the batteries back to full life, and they are a proprietary design.
With all its adjustable features, chances are high that you’ll be able to find a setup that works well for you. The 4D armrests move every way imaginable to ensure your arms are comfortable while gaming. Furthermore, this chair has an impressive recline and a modest height adjustment at the base.
The price is somewhat in line with other gaming chairs at right around $350. While that’s nothing to balk at, the optional RGB kit comes in at $3000 and nearly doubles the price when added to the chair.

The X Rocker RGB Prism is a nice, wide chair with average comfort for your back and seat. The armrests are a hard plastic with a contoured design that could certainly get uncomfortable after a spell.
The armrests, along with the backrest, are fixed and not adjustable in any way. There’s no leaning back to relax with this model. The base is sturdy but has no wheels, so you’ll be dragging the 54-pound chair across the floor to get it in front of your rig. The X Rocker RGB Prism does fold in half for storage and takes up less space than a standard gaming chair when not in use.
Unfortunately, the chair sits about 18 inches off the ground, which is relatively low for gaming on a PC. It works fine for consoles, but this likely won’t work for PC use unless you have a low desk.
The chair does have a fantastic RGB band that runs along the perimeter of the chair. This is one of the two features that make this chair stand out from among others. You will have to plug in the chair to use this feature and the next one, though.
The other feature, one that X Rocker is known for, is the built-in speakers. There is one speaker on either side of the headrest and a subwoofer for those bass beats. These devices can be wirelessly connected to a PC or console to give you a real surround-sound experience.
The X Rocker RGB Prism has vibration motors for added effect and a side panel that controls all of the chair’s electronic features.
When you factor in the RGB lighting and the speakers, the price seems reasonable at around $350.

If you’ve never heard of Pewdiepie, he’s a Swedish streamer who’s likely the highest-earning individual on YouTube. He’s a fan of the ClutchChairz brand, and when Pewdiepie hit the 100 million subscriber mark, they made a unique chair to honor the occasion.
Having a celebrity endorsement doesn’t make this a good chair – that’s something only the features can do. Starting at the bottom, the base has a heavy-duty five-wheel design that spans nearly two and a half feet to keep the chair nice and sturdy. If that wasn’t enough, the chair could literally support up to 2000 pounds of weight. There’s even testing to back this up.
The base itself can tilt up to 12° if you are tall or want to get your feet off the ground. On top of that, the backrest can incline back to 135°. At roughly 150° fully reclined, the Pewdiepie M100 makes for a comfy snooze if you need to recharge before jumping back into a game. It’s a bit questionable how practical this level of recline really is since you’ll never use it while gaming.
ClutchChairz is proud of the cushioning they’ve put into this chair. The foam is a proprietary cold-cured blend and definitely conforms to your body over time, making it even more comfortable after you break it in. The upholstery is a premium faux leather, and ClutchChairz makes a point to mention it’s not going to peel on the Pewdiepie M100.
The gaming chair comes with an LED band that runs all the way along the edge of the chair. This LED light can be one of several colors and adds a coolness factor to the overall design.
Users love the chair, but the only sticking point is the price. The gaming chair retails for over $500, which is going to be prohibitive for some.

If you’re set on picking up an RBG gaming chair, there are a few things to keep in mind.
1. Style
There aren’t a ton of options to pick from right now, so you may be a little limited in this regard. The chairs on our list have the most popular options at the moment; either running along the perimeter of the chair or fitting into the holes in the backrest. It’s also possible to find chairs with RGB attachments at the base for a lighted undercarriage look.
2. Customizability
Since we’re talking RGB LEDs here, there shouldn’t be a limit to the number of colors you can choose from at any given time. Make sure that’s the case. Some chairs have only a mono-color design, while others are multicolored by design or are separated into sections that can be adjusted differently.
3. Computer Connection
It’s likely the chair you buy will link up to your PC to make adjustments to the LED display. The chair you’re considering should make this process easy to set up and easy to adjust whenever you want to make a change.
4. Keeping the Lights on
Check how the chair gets its juice and verify that’s something you can accommodate. Plugging a chair into a wall socket can be a real hindrance to mobility. Battery packs work better in that regard, but make sure they can keep a charge for a long time. You’ll have to either keep track of when they are running low so you can charge while not gaming or keep a potentially expensive spare on hand.
Final Recommendation
I don’t think you’d go wrong with any of the chairs on this list, so long as you take mobility in mind for the X Rocker chair. As cool as the speakers are, I’m happy with headphones, and I can’t live without being able to move the chair around. That’s just personal preference there.
The other three options are solid, but having to upgrade the Vertagear chairs to RGB is a pain and quite the additional cost. Having the RGB lights near your head in a dim room would be an incredible experience, though.
My recommendation for a gaming chair on this list is the ClutchChairz Pewdiepie LED 100M Edition model. Once you factor in those RGB addons for the Vertagear models, the Pewdiepie model ends up being cheaper even with all of its high-quality features. The LED lighting really shines (pun intended) along the edge of the chair and really stands out even in a lit room.
