SecretLab Titan Review : The Best Gaming Chair?

The successor model, the Titan 2020, was unveiled in 2019, and the most current iteration is the Titan Evo 2022, as of 2023. In December of 2018, I was contacted by a SecretLab representative to check out one of their chair.

I knew that Secretlab is one of the best gaming chair manufacturers at the time but to be honest, I didn’t expect the Secretlab Titan to be such a good product.

If you are interested in buying a Secretlab Titan, here is a detailed review of this chair after a few months using it. 

Assembly and Packaging

When you receive your Secretlab Titan, expect to receive a large, heavy package (33.5 “x 28” x 14.5 “and 77 lbs.).

Regarding the packaging, Secretlab did a great job. All the elements are well packed and well protected. Bubble pack is used to protect the various elements of the chair during transport.

The risk of damage to the chair during transport is almost nil.

Regarding the assembly, it was a piece of cake even alone. Having someone to help you will allow you to go faster, but it is very easy to manage without help.

However, you will need a Phillips screwdriver to install the protections of the backrest tipping mechanism on the sides.

I found the instructions in the manual clear and well detailed. I think it’s the best manual I’ve ever had for a product to be mounted yourself. I must also give credit to the person who had the idea to put the instructions in a large and colored sheet. It is way better than many gaming chair manufacturer, that seems to just disregard this part

Now it remains to know if it is a good gaming chair, and on this point, I must say that I was not disappointed…

The Secretlab Titan has all the features of a high-end gaming chair in 2023.

With a maximum capacity of 290 lbs., the Secretlab Titan is easily capable of supporting the vast majority of gamer. That being said, having a 330 lbs capacity would have been better because this is what you will find on most of the high-end gaming chairs nowadays.

This is the only major “flaw” of the Secretlab titan because if you are a big and tall guy, the Secretlab Titan might not be sturdy enough to hold your weight. That being said, for the vast majority of people, the weight capacity of the Titan should be enough.

Secretlab has incorporated into this chair 4D armrests. The “4D” armrest means that they can be adjusted in 4 directions: in height, from front to back, on the side and finally they can be rotated.

For those who are not familiar with that terms here is a video of what 4D Armrests are capable of :

It may not sound much but, it is one of the most important features for comfort and ergonomy as it allows placing the armrests exactly where you want.

Pro tip: If you ever find that the armrests are too close together or too far away, you can adjust their position by unscrewing them and then screwing them under the seat.

Like all gaming chair, the Secretlab Titan is able to tilt its backrest up to 165 °. For this, you just have to pull the recline lever located on the right of the seat.

The Secretlab Titan is also equipped with a rocking chair mechanism (Secretlab called it MULTI-functional Tilt mechanism); you can adjust the resistance of the mechanism using the nod located underneath the seat.

By combining the two type of mechanism you the chair can be tilt horizontally.  It is not a very optimal for work or for gaming but now you know that it is possible.

The Secretlab also comes with an excellent quality head cushion. It is very nice to use and I highly recommend using it. I find that having on the cushion makes the chair even more comfortable.

The lumbar support is provided by a mechanism built into the chair which can be adjusted by a button located on the right side of the backrest.

Finally, the seat can turn on itself at 360 ° and you can also adjust the height of the seat. With the wheels built into the chair allow you to move without having to get up from its seat.

Build Quality: The Best I’ve ever seen

The manufacturing quality of the Secretlab Titan is exceptional. It’s simply the best-built gaming chair I’ve ever tried.

After inspecting the chair I failed to find a manufacturing defect on it.

The upholstery used by Secretlab is excellent. I got the premium PU leather version, and in my opinion, this is the best PU leather I’ve ever tried on a gaming chair. With a thickness of 1.5 mm it should be able to hold for a long time without getting crack and crumbling. Like all PU leathers, it is waterproof which makes it easy to maintain.

Secretlab uses an aluminum base for its Secretlab Titan; you don’t have to worry about the sturdiness of the chair.

The foam used by Secretlab is also excellent. It is a high-density foam which they have elaborated themselves the formula, to arrive at a result closest to perfection.

I have no worries about his firmness in the months and years to come. The foam should stay firm for years.

From what I’ve seen during my two months with this chair, the Secretlab Titan should be able to last for years of long gaming sessions.

If you are looking for a gaming chair that is primarily durable and sturdy, the Titan is a product that you should consider to buy.

Comfort, ergonomics, and Design: It’s all good

Now let’s move on to the most important part of this test: comfort.

To answer clearly the question you are waiting for : is the Secretlab Titan comfortable?

Yes, it’s even the most comfortable gaming chair I’ve been able to try so far…

To me, there are 3 reasons why the Secretlab Titan is so comfy, but to put it in a nutshell, I would say that the Titan is very well designed.

The first reason is that the seat is flat: Unlike many gaming chairs, the bucket style seats that confine your legs to the middle of the seat is here. The Secretlab Titan has a relatively flat and wide seat which leaves a lot of room for the legs.

The back is designed to combine both the style of the gaming chairs and optimum comfort. Having a back support which goes up to the neck allows you to completely relax your back muscles, especially if you are using rocking chair tilting. Finally, if you have wide shoulders, know that the backrest is wide enough so you won’t feel to tight on the chair.

The built-in lumbar support is well placed which allowed me to be at the same time comfortable in the chair, but most importantly, to be in an ergonomic position. On this point, it may not be the case for you since the position of the lumbar support on the backrest cannot be adjusted…

Combined all this with the amazing build quality and you have (in my opinion), the most comfortable gaming chair I have been able to test so far.

I personally sit longer than 5 to 6 hours a day, whether it’s for work or for gaming. So I needed a comfortable seat for my intensive use.

Finally, the design of the Secretlab Titan is one of the most beautiful designs in my opinion. It combines perfectly the racing seat style, with a more minimalistic approach. This style is not specific to the Secretlab brand (Maxnomic also use it) but, I think that Secretlab really nails it in terms of aesthetic.

Fortunately, the Titan Secretlab fulfilled its role perfectly, and I have absolutely no reproach to do to this chair on that point.

The different versions of the Secretlab Titan

The Secretlab Titan is available in several versions. The version I had for this test is the Secretlab Prime PU Leather Stealth, but there are other types of upholstery and other variations.

So if you find that the version I took does not go with your setup gaming, you can still check out the other versions that exist on the site of Secretlab.

For me, the most interesting is the fabric version called Soft Weave Edition which comes in two different color scheme. If you do not like synthetic leather it is the best fabric gaming chair that exists on the market.

Finally, you have the real leather version that one of the most expensive gaming chairs that exist.

Secretlab offers a wide variety of special edition: you have the Dark Knight edition, The Game of Thrones edition, and many more.

They tend to be a little bit more expensive than the standard PU leather version.

Verdict: The Ultimate Gaming Chair?

What I loved about the Secretlab Titan:

• Comfort: The most comfortable gaming chair I have been able to test
• Manufacturing Quality: the best
• Available in several versions
• The head cushion

What could be better:

• Maximum capacity still barely enough
• the price…

As you can see, I really enjoyed the Secretlab Titan.

I sincerely think this is one of the best gaming chairs in 2023 at the moment.

I was a little bit skeptical about the positive reviews about this product at first, but after I have tried this chair myself, I must admit that all these positive criticisms are largely deserved.

But you probably suspect that this kind of product is not cheap: Count about $500 (MSRP) to obtain it. That being said, Secretlab offers regularly discount and sales on their product, so I recommend you to check the price by yourself.

Other models of the Secretlab brand

Secretlab also offers other models of the gaming chair. I only had the opportunity to test the Secretlab Titan because this is the only chair of the brand that would suit me (as I am a big and tall guy)…

That said, if you don’t need a beefy chair like the Titan, the Omega is also an excellent choice.

The main difference between the Omega and the Titan is the size of the chair and the maximum capacity: 230 lbs. for the Omega vs. 290 lbs. for Titan.

Secretlab advises the Omega for people measuring between 5 ‘ 3 “and 5 ‘ 7” in height, if this is your case, in my opinion, you do not need to take the Titan that will be more expensive.

Knowing that it is the same level of manufacturing quality, you will save a few bucks by choosing the Omega.

Is it better than a DXRacer Chair? If you are looking for a premium gaming chair, I would say yes. I had the DXRacer King for a while and I definitively find the Secretlab Titan more comfortable than the DXRacer King.

Where to buy Secretlab Titan? The only way to get one is to go to the web site Secretlab.co they are not available on Amazon and nor in any retail store.

How long will it last? Secretlab has a 2 years warranty, but it should be able to last well over 2 years depending on your usage. Edit: With the new 2020 Series, SecretLab offers a 5 years warranty.
