Secretlab Titan 2020 (Classic) Series Review: Is The Best Gaming Chair?

UPDATE 10/23: The Secretlab Titan remains an excellent gaming chair from Secretlab, but is rarely available on the website and has been replaced in the product line by the Secretlab Evo. The only advantage that the Titan 2020 now still offers is its lower price.

… The all-new facelift is named ‘Secretlab Titan 2020 Series’ and for many, provides a great update on an already popular gaming chair.

I had the chance to get the new version of the Secretlab Titan 2020 a while ago and I must say – it is fascinating. Part of me says that because I have been in love with the 2018 Secretlab Titan Series but another part is even more excited about the new chair and all the novelties that it brings.

Because of that, I decided to give you guys a full-on and unbiased review.

Secretlab Titan 2020 Series: Assembly And Packaging

If you are getting goosebumps even just by thinking about receiving this Secretlab gaming chair on your doorstep, I felt the same. The moment I got the chair, I found that the Secretlab packaging was beyond premium. Everything that was included in the box was well protected and well packaged, ensuring that the chair would not suffer any damage during shipping.

While this is something everyone should expect from a leading gaming chair brand such as Secretlab, the new version of the chair comes with a giant instruction sheet for the assembly (just like the last one).

Speaking of, assembling this chair is a process that requires anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes and one that is generally easy to do, even if you are alone. I had no major problems with the assembly.

What I did notice, however, was the fact that the washer was missing in one of the 4 screws which are used to attach the back of the set to the actual gaming chair (see the picture for details).

All in all, my first impression of this chair was solid. The Secretlab Titan 2020 is definitely great in terms of its packaging and assembly required. And I must say – it definitely feels as a premium product as it should be.

Secretlab Titan 2020 Series: Review Of The (New) Features & Characteristics

The Secretlab Titan 2020 Series is a chair that is perfect for users who are between 5’7″ and 6’4″ as well as gamers who weight up to 290 pounds. This makes the Titan the true king of the Secretlab gaming chair lineup, measuring 22 inches in width and holding onto a sturdy frame, safe enough to accommodate the biggest gamers out there.

It seems like Secretlab has also decided to go fully scientific with the Titan 2020 Series. Their document unveils that they have made many different tests for this model, such as the following:

• A humidity chamber test – designed to stimulate the harshest and most temperate climate and how the chair reacts to it.
• An artificial sweat + immersion test – recreating body elements to see if the Secretlab PRIME leather would be a great fit to human perspiration.
• Abrasion test – putting the samples through 200,000 abrasion cycles on the Martindale Abrasion Test Machine to see how durable the regular leather is compared to the Secretlab PRIME leather.

The results showed that the new Secretlab 2020 Titan Series is better than its predecessor in every possible way.

The Standard Features Which Made The Titan Series One Of The Best Gaming Chairs On The Marke

Since it is an improved version of an already popular gaming chair loved by a lot of gamers and enthusiasts, the Titan 2020 brings a lot of the standard features that we like about the Titan Series.

These include:

• Overall comfort
• Overall size
• Premium and durable materials
• Quality in every single part of the chair
• Gret logo placement
• Perfect armrests, solid positioning (of the entire chair)
• An incredibly adjustable model

That said, the 2020 Secretlab Titan is as comfortable as you need it to be.

What’s New In The Secretlab 2020 Titan Series?

When you see the list of features that the new 2020 Secretlab Titan Series gaming chair has, you will see that the brand has been focusing on providing additional comfort with each one of the novelties. The list of new features in the Titan 2020 Series include:

• Improved upholstery: The Prime 2.0 which is PU leather is now more durable than ever
• Improved Cold Cure Foam: Extending the comfort
• More Durable: The model was tested and showed that it is four times more durable than regular PU leather all while maintaining the great looks
• Full Metal Armrests: They are now more durable with the new full metal structure
• Headrest pillow: It now has some memory foam to improve comfort
• Wheels: They are reinforced for more durability.
• Warranty: The manufacturer has extended it up to 5 years.

All of these features are setting the bar higher for Secretlab as a brand as well as the gamers who were desperately hoping to see this chair in detail. With them, the 2020 Titan Series is undoubtedly one of the best gaming chairs in its class.

Is It More Comfortable Than The Previous Model?

A basic Secretlab Titan Series 2018 vs. Secretlab Titan Series 2020 review shows that the comfort has been extended – but not to the part where you can feel a lot more benefits in your gaming.

It is safe to say that the 2018 model had a lot of comfort in it (another fact why it is one of the bestselling gaming chairs on the market). So, there was not plenty of room for improvements in terms of comfort for Secretlab to make – or at least, not plenty of changes that we can feel and perceive as better.

Still, this does not mean that the 2020 Titan Series does not live to my expectations. Just like its older brother, it definitely outperforms when it comes to balance, comfort and durability.

On the good side, the Titan leans back and reclines. All you need to do is pull the lever on the right side and you will lay back almost to a recliner level. This is perfect for quick breaks (read: naps) and times when you just want to cool down from working or gaming.

Secretlab Titan 2020 Series: Build Quality & Durability

The build quality of this chair is like always, top notch. As you know by now, the chair is comfortable and has loads of controls that help you find the perfect position for your favorite game or any work-related activity.

Despite the many adjustments, the sturdiness of the Secretlab Titan 2020 Series is not brought to a question.

In fact, the manufacturer has decided to upgrade the warranty to 5 years – and further prove that this chair is one of the sturdiest on the market.

The manufacturer is confident in the upgraded durability, too. As they said when describing the all new Secretlab Titan 2020 Series:

“One of the most iconic features of the Secretlab 2018 Series, Secretlab PRIMETM PU leather outperformed current standards for flexing, durability and abrasion tests— such as lasting 200,000 abrasion cycles on the Martindale Abrasion Test, 10 times the industry standard.”

So, if you are looking for a gaming chair with a top-notch build, the Secretlab Titan 2020 Series is definitely for you.

Is Something Missing In the Secretlab Titan 2020 Series?

If there is anything that I would like to point out as a positive critic to the manufacturer, it has to be the pillow option.

As you probably know, the Secretlab Omega Series has a lumbar pillow option which is amazing, but the Titan Series falls short on it. So, my note to Secretlab would be to at least try and include it in the following facelifts.

EDIT: The Titan does have a lumbar support, it is built-in the back of the chair.

Final Words

Indeed, the Secretlab Titan 2020, following its 2018 upgrade, continues to stand as an exceptional gaming chair from Secretlab, albeit its rarity on the official website and being superseded in the model line by the Secretlab Evo. At this juncture, the sole advantage the Titan 2020 holds is its more economical pricing.
