Best Ergonomic Chairs under $500: The Top 10

If you’re looking for a great ergonomic chair, but you only have $500 or less to spend, then look no further. I’ve done the hard work for you and compiled a list of the 10 best ergonomic chairs under $500.

So, here are the 10 best ergonomic chairs under $500:

  1. Autonomous Ergochair 2
  2. Sayl Chair by Herman Miller
  3. TITAN Series by Secretlab
  4. Duramont Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair with Lumbar Support and Rollerblade Wheels
  5. Gabrylly Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair, High Back Desk Chair
  6. Autonomous OsmoChair
  7. Hbada Office Task Desk Chair Swivel Home Comfort Chairs
  8. Cedric Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair
  9. SIDIZ T50 Highly Adjustable Ergonomic Office Chair (TNB500LDA)
  10. Office Factor Executive Ergonomic Office Chair

However, Herman Miller chairs may not suit everyone’s needs and budget, which is why I’ve compiled this list of the best ergonomic options from a variety of different brands. I’ve even found some great ergonomic chairs that are less than $100 for those of you on a very tight budget.

What to Look for in an Ergonomic Chair

Before we delve into the list, let’s first have a look at what factors I took into account when choosing the best ergonomic chairs under $500. Here’s what I looked for:

Ergonomic Support

Ergonomic chairs are all about the support that they offer to your neck, shoulders, and spine while you’re using them. Good ergonomic chairs will offer lumbar support and a high backrest for adequate neck support at a minimum but will also usually often equipped with more advanced ergonomic features.

Comfort and Breathability

A good ergonomic chair will be able to keep you cool and comfortable throughout the day. Chairs with mesh backs are great for keeping cool, while foam cushioning and strong frames can help to keep you supported and comfortable.

Adjustability

Ergonomic chairs should allow you to experience comfort in a way which suits your body. This means you should at least be able to adjust the height of your chair so that you can sit with proper posture. Other adjustability features such as tilt functions and adjustable armrests can allow you to customize your chair more specifically to your needs.

1. Autonomous ErgoChair 2

Buy It

The ErgoChair 2 by Autonomous is one of the best selling chairs by the brand. Its design is smart and simple, using mesh materials to promote breathability. The model comes in six different colors – you can choose from black, cool gray, red, blue and two unique color combinations of grey and yellow and black and white.

With 360-degree flexibility and full-body support in any seated position, this model claims to prevent back pain and promote good posture.

The ErgoChair 2 is adjustable and with only a couple of tweaks, you can find a comfortable position for yourself.

Its seat base is around 2 inches thick and very soft, which gives you additional support from the bottom (which is breathable). I really appreciate the dynamic inclination of the backrest, which allow you to change position on the fly.

When it comes to weight capacity, the ErgoChair 2 can withstand up to 350 lbs. Another important thing worth mentioning are the casters of the ErgoChair 2 – they are soft and very quiet, so you should not worry about your (laminate) flooring.

Overall, the Autonomous ErgoChair 2 is a model that is comfortable and offers an ergonomic position when sitting.

2. Sayl Chair by Herman Miller

Herman Miller Sayl Task Chair: Tilt Limiter - Stationary Seat Depth - Stationary Arms - Standard Carpet Casters - Fog Base/Studio White FrameCheck Price On Amazon

Sayl is the budget option available from Herman Miller, my personal favorite ergonomic chair brand.

Although there are much more expensive and intricate designs available from Herman Miller, Sayl is still a really great option and costs less the $500.

What I love most about this chair is the breathable mesh back panel. It ensures that you’ll stay cool and comfortable whatever the weather.

The chair has a simple yet striking design that wouldn’t look out of place in an office or gaming setting.

It’s also available in a range of different colors, meaning you could match it to almost any color scheme

The chair also features some great, innovative ergonomic technology, such as PostureFit back technology and 3D intelligence.

The chair is also highly adjustable, with functions allowing you to adjust the height, seat position, armrests and recline angle.

If you’re looking for a chair that mimics the design of high-end ergonomic chairs for a fraction of the cost, then Sayl is a really great option.

3. TITAN Series by Secretlab

I’ve already talked about this chair a lot already elsewhere on this site as it’s my overall favorite gaming chair in 2019.

After reviewing this chair earlier this year, I found that the build quality of the chair was superior to many that I had tried.

It was sturdy, had a lot of room on the seat, and most importantly it was highly supportive of the back and neck area. This chair is perfect for gamers who need a solid and comfortable option for long periods of gaming.

The TITAN Series by Secretlab is also a solid option for an ergonomic chair that is under $500 dollars.

Although this product is marketed as a gaming chair, it has some fantastic ergonomic features and is one of the best ergonomic chairs on the market.

The Titan is available for less than $500 in PU leather or Softweave Fabric, which are both highly comfortable options, but you’ll pay significantly more if you want Napa leather upholstery.

4. Duramont Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair with Lumbar Support and Rollerblade Wheels

Duramont Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair with Lumbar Support and Rollerblade Wheels - High Back with Breathable Mesh - Thick Seat Cushion - Adjustable Head & Arm Rests, Seat Height - Reclines

From a first glance, the Duramont office chair definitely has the office look. It is created in all black and with mesh materials which makes it perfect for any work setup.

However, this model is more than just a simple office chair – it is very comfortable and will help you find a great seating position.

You can also adjust the headrest height and angle as well as the armrests (their distance and height), while the lumbar support will give you a solid base for your back.

With great back support, the breathable mesh means that you won’t be breaking sweats when sitting on this chair. The cool air that circulates from the back of the chair gives you a comfortable sweat-free environment, and all of the materials are of high quality.

Another impressive point is the 330 lbs weight capacity, which is based on quality materials, sturdy armrests and a soft cushion seat with rollerblade casters that won’t scratch your floor. The warranty is 90 days, during which you can try the chair and see whether it fits your needs.

Lastly, the Duramont office chair is very easy to install – assembling it should not take more than 15 minutes and once you do that, it is only a matter of adjusting the armrests, base and back area (lumbar support) to fit your needs.

5. Gabrylly Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair, High Back Desk Chair

The mesh office chair by Gabrylly is a relative newcomer on the market – but also a model to watch out for.

I really love all the details and the work put into creating this chair, which is easily noticeable on the 5-star base and the back area of the chair. In short, both of these areas are with innovative design, making the Gabrylly office chair stand out from its competition.

One of the main features that the manufacturer highlights are the four main supporting points (head, back, hips, and hands) in the design of this chair, allowing proper lumbar support.

Also, adjusting the seat height, headrest, backrest and flip-up arms can help you work, relax or play games on your desk.

The weight capacity of the Gabrylly chair is 280 lbs, which is decent enough for a chair of this caliber and price. Gamers and office workers will also appreciate the recline function – this chair can tilt up to 120 degrees, going from standard to a smooth lying position in seconds.

As a final point, I love the small “hack” Gabrylly did with the armrests – they can actually be pushed down if you want to move the chair under a desk and free up some space in your office or room.

6. Autonomous OsmoChair

Following up on the Ergochair, and proving that Autonomous really is the king of great value ergonomic chairs, is another of Autonomous’ fantastic creations – the OsmoChair.

A lot of research went into this chair to make sure the ergonomics really were on point, and you can tell. Like the ErgoChair, this chair literally moves with you.

The auto-balance mechanism means you can move around at will and pause in any position, the chair will adapt.

The backrest goes reclined backward up to 128-degrees and even accommodates forward leans up to 16 inches past upright.

The armrests are 4D adjustable, meaning you can move them in literally any direction. The 3D headrest is also highly adjustable and feels great, as is the lumbar support.

The breathable ‘miracle mesh’ circulates air around your body and the whole chair is designed to make sure there is no pressure on your knees.

Unlike many other ergonomic chairs on this list, the Ergochair even includes an extendable footrest, which comes with a whole set of ergonomic benefits on its own.

The footrest is also removable so, if you’re concerned about space or weight, you can take it off and hide it away. You can also remove the headrest.

7. Hbada Office Task Desk Chair Swivel Home Comfort Chairs

Hbada Office Task Desk Chair Swivel Home Comfort Chairs with Flip-up Arms and Adjustable Height, WhiteCheck Price On Amazon

The Hbada office task desk chair brings a great mix of black and white, finished in a modern design that will blend well in any futuristic or minimalistic room decor.

The chair is very unique and deserves a place in this list for its design (you can choose between white/black and all-black) and its natural curve of the lower back, which takes the pain of your spine away from your body, as the manufacturer claims.

Just like some other office chairs, the Hbada office desk chair is a space saver – its armrests can be flipped so that it can go under any desk.

When it comes to the materials used, I can confidently say that they are very soft and supportive, with a mesh back area that prevents oversweating on your chair. The material in the base is metal that allows stability and durability.

The 120 degree support, pneumatic adjustability and weight capacity of 250lbs are among the best selling points for the Hbada office chair.

For me, the design is the biggest selling point, especially in the white/black version which makes the chair look very sleek and meets the needs of newer generations.

8. Cedric Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair

Cedric Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair, High Back Desk Chair with Adjustable Lumbar Support, PU Armrests and Mesh Headrest and seat(CD-874MH)Check Price On Amazon

This ergonomic office chair by Cedric is one of the most affordable chairs on this list and comes in significantly under the $500 budget.

Despite that, it has some ergonomic features to be reckoned with.

For starters, it’s super adjustable. In addition to a fully-adjustable chair (height, depth, and tilt), it also boasts adjustable lumbar support, adjustable armrests, and even an adjustable headrest.

Literally, every element of this chair can be adjusted, which allows you to be super-specific about tailoring it to your exact requirements.

It also has a mesh seat to aid circulation, a waterfall seat edge that reduces leg pressure, tilt lock, and a solid construction that can support up to 350 lbs of weight.

That’s actually a really high weight capacity considering how small and dainty this chair looks, so it’s suitable for big and tall users too!

9. SIDIZ T50 Highly Adjustable Ergonomic Office Chair (TNB500LDA)

SIDIZ T50 Highly Adjustable Ergonomic Office Chair (TNB500HLDA): Advanced Mechanism for Customization/Extreme Comfort, Headrest, Ventilated Mesh Back, Lumbar Support, 3D Arms, Seat Slide/Slope (Blue)

Modern office workers want the very best for their corporate sanctuary. The SIDIZ office chair is ergonomic, durable and made from great materials.

However, just like other models in this list, most of its bonus points and the reason why it is featured here is because of its design.

You can literally choose from four different color options, or choose to customize the color of your seat (base), the back area, and even a headrest that comes in white and can be attached to this chair as per your needs.

The combination of mesh, fabric, plastic and steel is a great way to give freedom to your body. As the manufacturer highlights, the S-shape design that this model has prevents back pain all while distributing the weight on the lumbar disk properly and evenly.

What I loved most about the SIDIZ office chair is the way – actually five different ways – to adjust the tilting angle and lean to the degree you wish.

This makes it easy to switch positions and go from working to relaxing or watching something on your desk in a matter of seconds. The mesh area on the back is sweat-free and very flexible, consisting of an aluminum frame which brings even greater durability.

10. Office Factor Executive Ergonomic Office Chair

OFFICE FACTOR Executive Ergonomic Office Chair Back Mesh Bonded Leather Seat Flip up Armrest Molded Seat with a 55kg Foam Density Double Handle Mechanism You Can Lock The Back in Any Position (Black)Check Price On Amazon

The final ergonomic chair I wanted to mention is the Office Factor executive ergonomic office chair.

This is another budget option that costs a lot less than $500.

The mash back on this thing looks kind of like a spine, which is appropriate considering how ergonomic it is.

The seat features thick padding to keep you comfortable while the mesh back will keep your back cool.

The armrests flip up, which makes it easy to get in and out, and the curved shape of the backrest conforms well to your spine for more comfort and ergonomic support.
