The GTRacing – GTPlayer Gaming Chair, also known as GTPlayer, is a budget-friendly gaming chair offering basic features and comfort suitable for prolonged gaming sessions.
With a classic edition model design, it lacks an integrated headset or footrest but makes up for it in terms of sturdiness and ease of assembly.
It may not seem like a big deal, but receiving a well-thought-out and properly filled box when ordering a gaming chair can clearly change your overall opinion on its contents.
Let’s face it, the GTRacing gaming chair is a model of its kind! The package itself arrived in perfect condition, as did all the components inside.
The packaging was well thought out and all components were well protected. In order to separate the different parts and to avoid rubbing, the designers had placed enough bubble wrap and cardboard pieces, but without overdoing it. I never felt encumbered during the assembly, which is rare enough to be noticed.
The result: unpacking it was easy and I found every necessary part instantly, which made assembly much easier. The only drawback at the start is that the chair is a little bit heavy (about 20 kilos).
But I was still able to carry up one floor by myself without too much trouble.
As you can see, the designers of the GTRacing gaming chair have clearly focused on first impressions!
After the packaging, the assembly is another strong point of the chair. If kit furniture and accessories are not your cups of tea, this gaming chair should make you happy.
As always, I put the chair together by myself in order to judge the design and ergonomics as much as possible. Here, there are absolutely no problems to report! All the actions to be performed and their order are perfectly indicated. The diagrams on the instructions are always clear.
They are in English on the drawings but the text is well translated into French on the side. On the important elements of the structure, the side and the direction are often indicated to avoid us to make a mistake.
Of course, no parts were missing in my box. The designers have even, as is often the case, provided a few extra screws for the more absent-minded among us. The supplied Allen key is strong enough, and it allows to screw each element easily, without having to struggle or hurt yourself.
In the end, I was able to assemble the GTRacing chair all by myself in about half an hour. A record for me.
After this excellent first impression, I was able to test the chair itself. So to get a clear picture, let’s start with an overview of the GTRacing.
As always to start my usability test, I inspected the different elements and read the description to identify the different features. I found that they were relatively few, but these were the essentials ones:
As you can see, the various features are rather limited. But it will be perfect for people who don’t want to have 10 000 controls to deal with, and who especially want to find a good posture quickly. Especially since the different mechanisms are still very simple to use and functional.
We only regret the absence of armrest side to side adjustments. This absence is still felt after several hours in keyboard-mouse mode.
To sum up, we can say that the GTRacing is a classic chair in this price range, but it does its job well as an efficient gaming chair.

Let’s move on to the materials used and their robustness. In this respect, the GTRacing gaming chair has some good and some bad points…
All in all, we can say that the GTRacing chair looks solid overall.
The various mechanisms and the metal base, in particular, seem to be made to last a long time.
The wheels also seem to be durable, even if they are unfortunately a bit noisy. Like the other mechanisms, the central piston is solid. It holds well and is easy to adjust. It’s just a shame that its amplitude is a bit too small.
The armrests are lightly padded but still very firm, which gives a convincing impression of strenght.
But there are some rather disappointing aspects to report about the build quality.
To begin with, the fake leather covering is convincing. It is even pleasant to the touch.
But I found it rather fragile. In my opinion, you should avoid this chair if you have pets (especially cats) or small children. A scratch will happen very quickly with such a cover.
Then, I must say that the covers of the mechanisms to be placed on the sides of the chair caught my attention as soon as I unpacked it. They are so light and fragile that I was afraid to damage them just by fixing them!
To hide the mechanisms and avoid dust, it is true that this is more than enough. But in my opinion, these protections will break or scratch at the slightest impact.
I would like to finish with the most important point in my opinion, the lack of balance of this chair. Let me explain. The tilt mechanism works perfectly well. Its amplitude of up to 150° is really impressive.
It could have been a real pleasure to use it… But there is a small problem: when you recline the seat all the way, you feel that the chair does not balance well. The one time I tried to recline the chair all the way and really let go to see what the chair could do in “relaxation” mode, the wheels started to come off the floor…
In my opinion, an elderly person, slightly overweight or in poor physical condition could have fallen under these conditions.
Apart from the maximum tilt and stability, you can trust the GTRacing chair to make you feel comfortable quickly and permanently.
Since I’ve been using it, only the back and spine support cushions bother me a little. Usually, after a few hours of use, you forget that you have a cushion that supports you. Here it is not the case. They are a little too firm, which prevents you from relaxing completely.
But there is a good point: the back cushion seems to maintain the back correctly and prevent from taking a bad posture. Since I’ve been using it, there has been no lower back pain to speak of. As for the spine cushion, on the other hand, I must admit that I did not see the need for it.
It is impossible for me to rest my head on this chair. In the long run, I think I will simply remove this cushion if I keep this chair.
The seat is a little too firm for my taste. After a few hours, my bottom started to heat up and you feel the need to get up to relieve yourself a bit.
But for a chair of this range, the result is still very satisfactory! The backrest, also firm, is a little softer than the seat. Here, I have nothing to complain about!
Same thing for the armrests.
They are relatively firm, but still slightly padded. Thanks to the height adjustment, you feel well supported without hurting yourself.
If the GTRacing had side armrest adjustment, it would have been perfect…
After this complete test, it’s time for me to give my final verdict on the GTRacing gaming chair. Is spending around $160 for this chair a good choice?
…In my opinion, it all depends on what you want most from a gaming chair.
Let’s face it, this chair is a good chair for this price range.
If you buy it for the right reasons, you shouldn’t be disappointed.
In summary, we can say that this gaming chair is primarily aimed at those who want to get to the point, without complicating their lives.
It’s easy to set up and you’ll find your bearings instantly, without having to make many adjustments. You can use it for many hours without getting hurt.
Its sturdiness should allow you to keep it for a long time, unless you have a cat or a small child.
If all these points are essential for you, you can buy it without too much consideration. But if you’re looking for comfort above all else, it’s probably best to pass on this one.
The adjustments are quick to make on this chair, but they are limited…
If you have back, neck, arm or carpal tunnel problems, you’re likely to be in pain quickly.
And if you’re looking for a chair that also allows you to relax completely, that won’t be enough. The lack of stability and comfort of the cushions will not allow you to lie down and relax completely.
For around $160, it seems to offer everything you can expect from a good gaming chair. It is the classic edition model, without an integrated headset or footrest. These models are of course a bit more expensive... Anyway, after having assembled it and tried it for a few days, I was able to form an opinion on the quality of this chair with a gaming design. Packaging, assembly, robustness, comfort... I’m going to tell you everything about it up to my final verdict on this chair. A quick note before we begin: as you can see on the image, the chair is called GTPlayer, but it is exactly the same as the GTRacing gaming chair you can find.
