Today, I’ll share my review of the Klim eSport gaming chair! 

Klim Technologies (Klim Techs) was founded in 2015 with the support of an investment of… $521. The company prides itself on favouring the needs of its customers above all else, not benefiting from outside investment, and relegating shareholders to the backburner. With this in mind, the manufacturer has established itself as one of the rising stars of value for money. In addition to this iconic chair, the brand also develops mice, headsets and keyboards.

Arrival and unpacking of the chair

The chair was ordered via Amazon and I must say that I found the delivery very professional, both in terms of delivery time and logistics. The delivery date is communicated and on the day, I was notified of my place in the queue with an estimated time of arrival. Once it’s your turn, you can track the courier in real time. When the driver arrived, they dropped the package off at the doorstep, whereas other delivery services would leave the package in the middle of the road. In short, I was very satisfied with the delivery service and recommend it.

I opened the box with enthusiasm and discovered the different parts. It’s clean and simple: I found the base, the seat and the chair well packed, as well as cardboard boxes containing, among others, the mechanism, the covers, the screws, etc. As for the documentation, it’s standard, there’s a small multi-language booklet detailing the assembly steps and the adjustments.

To be honest, it’s the easiest chair I’ve ever built. This is especially the case as many parts are preinstalled, such as armrests, cushions, or screws in place.

I could easily put it together on my own, in about 20 minutes, not including taking notes and photos. I started by installing the wheels; they fit easily. I then moved on to assemble the seat and the chair. The screws fit naturally into the screw holes, it’s really simple. The same goes for the installation of the covers, whereas I often had problems with them on other models, because of the screw thread. I assembled the mechanism (still easy) and installed the piston, then placed the seat + backrest module on the base. The assembly is done!

The assembly instructions are useful thanks to the photos and different steps, but honestly, it’s so simple that you can do without them. It’s with excitement that I finished the chair build.

I’ll go into more detail on each element below, but in short, I think the gaming chair’s features are comprehensive. However, I would like to see an “improved” version, with a more generous rocking chair, a lock/unlock button for armrest rotation, and, finally, tilt lock at its maximum. In this regard, an additional footrest would have been interesting for a real lying position.

Build quality

The gaming chair is in the mid-range and I expected it to use solid and aesthetic materials as well as exemplary durability. In this case, I think the Klim eSport Gaming Chair has a good build quality. The individual parts are solid and the chair can support up to 330 lbs (150 kg). In addition, the manufacturer provides a 5-year warranty on this chair, which is reassuring.

• Coating: as is often the case, it’s a fake leather (PU) used here. It seems to be of good quality and has good durability. Visually, it has many interesting cracks that give it a certain authenticity, including to the touch. However, they are more pronounced in some places. Another visual advantage is that the upholstery has an interesting quilted effect, mixing the design of a typical gaming chair with traditional living room furniture. It’s interesting to the touch and can be felt when using the chair without it being uncomfortable. I don’t notice any defects: the stitching and finishing are perfect, without a single thread sticking out. It’s all very pro!

• The armrests: both the upholstery and the rest of the body are made of plastic, but they are very durable. Moreover, they are flawless and have a smooth surface without bumps. The top-bottom adjustment is easily done thanks to a sliding system, as well as for the front and back. The inside/outside adjustment is indented though, and it’s hard to be precise with this rather stiff system. Finally, the left/right rotation is free and not locked like on the Secretlab Titan, which means that the armrest may fall out of adjustment if you use them to grab the chair.

• The cushions: I don’t have anything specific to say, they offer the same look of authenticity as the rest of the upholstery, but they are pinched in several places. Otherwise, they appear to be of high quality.

• The base and wheels: the 5-wheel base is made of steel; it is quite heavy and very solid. It’s overall smooth and clean, but I do spot a dent. Regarding their wheels, I appreciate their large size which allows you to move easily on all types of floors. They are also quite quiet.

• The central piston: it responds very well to the adjustment of the height of the seat and does not suffer any sinking; it’s solid! 
• The rocking chair mechanism: the tilt release gives little range. You have to force the backrest with your back to get a slight tilt, and it’s not comfortable. It’s a shame, I would have liked to be able to swing like a real rocking chair; as it is, you can pass.
• Backrest tilt: on paper, you can push the backrest up to 160°, and in practice, it’s possible to go even further. However, the manufacturer gives this reference as the maximum angle. I recommend that you don’t push beyond that point to avoid the chair tipping over backward due to the weight.

Overall, I found the Klim eSport Gaming Chair to be complete and to have many settings. This applies to the backrest tilt and the 4D armrests, but also to the seat. You can adapt the chair to your activity, the position you adopt, etc. No problem with the height adjustment, but I can’t say the same about the rocking chair. As it stands, it seems rather unusable to me. I would also like a locking system for the left/right rotation and for the tilt at 160° maximum.

Review of the Klim eSport Gaming Chair’s comfort and ergonomics

If you invest in a gaming chair, it means you’re going to spend some time in it. Of course, the comfort and support of the seat are of paramount importance.

For the back, the chair is ergonomic. It’s certainly possible to do without the lumbar cushion, as the bottom of the backrest is sufficiently padded to encompass the body. However, I still recommend using the lumbar cushion, which has the added advantage of already being in place. The cushion fits perfectly in the lumbar region and therefore provides very good back support. The contact is neither too firm nor too soft; a balance that will please many. With such quality, the back cushion seems essential to me. Apart from the lumbar support, the comfort of the backrest is excellent and supports the rest of the spine very well.

And now, is the Klim eSport Gaming Chair ergonomic for the neck? Not enough, in my opinion. Unfortunately, this is my most notable disappointment with this chair, namely that the headrest is particularly firm… and I would say hard, to the point where it’s uncomfortable if you press your neck down a little instead of just putting it down. The only problem is that the top of the backrest is not very padded, so I decided to keep the cushion in place. Such firmness is desired and may appeal to others, but personally, I find it far too pronounced.

After these ergonomic tests, I can now move on to the comfort of the seat. The firmness that characterizes the majority of the chair is, once again, present. It’s very close to the GTRacing Ace and the Vertagear PL1000.

Personally, I prefer the Secretlab Titan or the Noblechairs Icon Black Edition with a more balanced seat. Overall, however, I have no complaints and the comfort of the seat is as good as I expected. I was able to work and play while sitting on it for several hours at a time, and I experienced no pain afterward.

I’ll now finish with the armrests. They have the advantage of being 4D, and thanks to the multiple adjustments, you can find the most suitable layout for your body type or the position you prefer (work, relaxation, etc.). However, it’s a pity that the padding is too basic, a fault that is all too often cited. I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re uncomfortable, but their feel is pretty stiff.

Verdict of the Klim eSport Gaming Chair

To sum up, I think this gaming chair is very promising in its price range. The structure is solid, the look is interesting and the comfort is overall good. The different settings for the armrest and backrest allow you to enjoy optimal support and a personalized experience. However, there is still room for improvement regarding the rocking chair, which is rather useless, and the headrest, which is far too firm for my taste.

Should I buy this gaming chair? It is charming and relatively comfortable, I can’t deny it. However, we must proceed by comparison, and here, I have a similar opinion to that of the GTRacing Ace M1 gaming chair.

The Klim eSport seat is available on Amazon for about $300, but there are expensive shipping costs; otherwise, it can be found on the official website for $350. In contrast, the Secretlab Titan is 25 to 50 euros more expensive (depending on promotional offers) and has more interesting comparative advantages. The armrests are more padded, the head cushion is made of memory foam and the rocking chair mechanism is exceptional.

As you can see, the Secretlab makes up for the shortcomings of Klim’s eSport gaming chair for a very small price difference. If you can afford it, I suggest you choose the former.
